HISTORY OF TAPAN: A PIONEER IN DISABILITY IN HARYANA PRAGYA INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF DIFFERENTLY ABLED
Tapan is a voluntary organization catering to the needs of differently abled since 1994. It has the repute to produce children of national and international caliber in different spheres like sports, painting, and training in different skills like candle making, computer, fashion designing, mobile repairing and food processing. In collaboration with various Govt. and Non-Govt. schemes Tapan has conducted various training programmes like Bridge course (with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment), caregivers course (with National Trust) and skill development course (with ministry of Social Justice, Govt. of India).
"Pragya' an epitome of knowledge was set up in 2014 at Nilokheri when Tapan stepped deeply into a training centre to produce special teachers. Its first course was started in 2014 with the approval of the Director, Social Justice and Empowerment and Rehabilitation Council of India (a statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment). 30 seats were granted to start the course. This course was first of its kind in Haryana giving opportunity to students of rural areas to opt for these courses and providing them more job opportunities. Students only from Haryana but different states are getting training in the course and giving names to the institution at a wider scale.
In the year 2017 Tapan got affiliation for B.Ed. Special in Hearing Impairment which is again an approved course by Rehabilitation Council and affiliated from Kurukshetra University. Till now Tapan has opted Hearing Impairment for specialization. It gives options to the students now it will be useful if more courses and opportunities are provided to students.
Society has also organized various training programmes/workshops of State and National level to extend and update the professional working in the field.
